A Day Late…
/0 Comments/in Uncategorized /by info@royalk9.comSorry I missed yesterday. We will be back next week! Stacie & Ronan
THANK YOU!!!
/0 Comments/in Uncategorized /by info@royalk9.comI want to thank each and everyone of you who voted Royal Canine Dog Training LLC the Best Pet Service for the Daily Record’s Readers Choice Award (3rd year in a row!). I feel truly honored that you entrust me with the care and guidance of your dogs! Your recommendation of me to your friends and family over the years means more than you can imagine. This has helped Royal Canine Dog Training LLC become what it is today.
So thank you again, and I will do everything in my power to promote the care, training and safety of all the dogs I get the privilege of working with! I am so blessed to have people like you in my life. I am also so blessed being able to do something I love and spend time with dogs every day.

Ronan’s Sheep Herding Debut!!!
/0 Comments/in Uncategorized /by info@royalk9.comI was encouraged to post a brag, although I cannot take much credit. 🙂
I love taking Ronan for herding lessons, allowing him to enjoy doing what he was bred to do. It is no surprise that Ronan’s skill level progresses much more quickly than mine. Herding does not mean chasing. It’s difficult to move and control livestock with ease and elegance, without adding unnecessary stress. Ronan’s genes offer natural ability and finesse!
This past weekend was amazing. I am thrilled to share that Ronan took 1st place in his class at his very first sheep herding trial! Special thanks to Karen Malloy for sharing her expertise and showing Ronan’s (and her) great talents!
If you’ve never watched dogs herding sheep (or ducks or cattle), I highly recommend it. Find a trial and go! It is truly a wonderful sight to see this beautiful and ancient farming technique with your own eyes. I promise, you won’t be sorry!
What jobs/skills were involved in your dogs’ history? Look for some activities where you can work on YOUR dogs’ natural instincts. They will love it and you will too!
Make time to enjoy your dogs every day!

Are You the Leader?
/0 Comments/in Uncategorized /by info@royalk9.comStacie Heeling Elsa P.
Here’s a QUICK review to make sure you are a leader to your dog:
8 week Henry practicing “LOOK”
If you and your dog have slipped into some negative habits tether him to you for a few days – this is an easy way to remind your dog that you are the leader and he is the follower. Keep things in check for a happy healthy relationship for years to come!
Yours in good training,
Stacie & Ronan
Got 5?
/0 Comments/in Uncategorized /by info@royalk9.comA short video of Ronan’s quick retrieving skills. This is what we do when I have limited time to exercise Ronan. I’m not sure that I captured his tremendous speed. Enjoy!
Busy Times for All…
/0 Comments/in Uncategorized /by info@royalk9.comLike most of you, Ronan and I have been pretty busy lately. Some of our time has been spent: at shelter fund raisers, street fairs, dog shows, herding practice (soon to be trials), working, volunteering, tending to family, and just trying to stay healthy and SANE!
I’m not sure if I have company, but even thought though the weather is fairly nice I find fall to be a little hectic and stressful!
Hang in there and put one foot in front of the other. Take a few minutes for yourself each day (as I was told tonight by my good friend, Kim!), breath and know that life is good, tomorrow is another day, and Ronan and I are thinking of you and thank you for your support!
Until next week,
Stacie & Ronan
Great Day for the Shelter!
/0 Comments/in Uncategorized /by info@royalk9.comThanks to all who came out to support Mutts Mania at Lurker Park this past Sunday! It was a beautiful day and many friends, old and new, stopped by to visit our tent. The 50/50 was over $5,700 so the Mount Pleasant Animal Shelter got a financial boost, and helped some dogs in need connect with their new families.
Royal Canine Dog Training LLC is proud to support local shelters and help their animals find fur-ever homes!
Until next week~

Blah, Blah, Blah…
/0 Comments/in Uncategorized /by info@royalk9.comHow much do you talk to your dog? It seems to be a common topic with my clients these days. When you are training make sure you are giving clear, simple commands to your dog, not having a conversation.
You can’t say: “sit, sit down, hey, come here (name), sit, where are you going…” and expect that your dog will respond – especially if you don’t follow through and make him do it! Keep it simple (stupid). Give a simple command and follow through until your dog responds. Stay calm and if you need to repeat the command, use the same tone of voice that you started with. Don’t risk teaching your dog that you have to yell to make him respond.
Dogs are not robots. They do not automatically know what we are thinking or what we want. Don’t over-talk to your dogs. If you do, all they will hear is “Blah, blah blah”!
Yours in good training,
Stacie & Ronan
